LAEDC Recognizes Business-Friendly El Segundo
 |
El Segundo is one of five finalists named by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation for the designation of "The Most Business Friendly City" in all of Los Angeles County.
The city will receive a plaque on October 5, 2006 at the LAEDC's annual Eddy Awards gala dinner at the Century Plaza Hotel.
The City's leadership role in the successful effort to keep Los Angeles Air Force Base in the region is a primary reason El Segundo is in the running for the honor.
Add to that a host of business-friendly amenities, including low tax rates, speedy permit processing, personalized service, and strong recruitment and retention programs.

El Segundo at Cutting Edge of New Commercial Projects

|
Deemed a landmark concept for mixed-use urban parks in the region, the 46.5-acre Campus El Segundo project is now offering space for lease to future tenants.
Located in El Segundo's bustling eastside commercial corridor, the Campus will feature 2.25 million square feet of prime office space, restaurants, hotels and shops dotted with inviting courtyards, waterfalls and breezeways.
The site, which is being developed by Thomas Properties Group, will also house a new state-of-the-art fire station and athletic complex.
Meanwhile, along the high-visibility corner of Sepulveda Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue, Phase 1 of the 37-acre Plaza El Segundo is set to open this fall.
The complex will feature a veritable who's who of upscale shops and restaurants, including CostPlus, Whole Foods Market, Best Buy, Linens n' Things, Borders and Salt Creek Grille.
Finally, in El Segundo's historic downtown, the new Grand Park Plaza, featuring Starbucks Coffee, Fantastic Sam's, and Wells Fargo Bank, among others, is completing construction this month.

Tesco Chooses El Segundo for U.S. Headquarters
 |
Tesco, one of the largest retailers in the world, has chosen El Segundo over several competing Southland locales as its official U.S. headquarters.
The corporation, which intends to invest up to $450 million annually to establish and market stores nationally, cited El Segundo's proactive and personalized approach to servicing its businesses as a prime reason for the decision.
Tesco is just one of El Segundo's recent success stories in business recruitment.

365 Main Open for Business
 |
Nationally-renowned data center operator 365 Main, which held the grand opening of its second west coast facility on June 28, had this to say about El Segundo.
|
"Our decision to do business in El Segundo was based on a number of factors, in particular the city's prime location and its sterling reputation as a high-tech business center.
We were duly impressed that the City has invested deeply in its infrastructure, particularly in the area of fiber optics.
This, we believe, helped us secure our first tenant, which left a troubled Los Angeles market scorched by high demand and power outages to come to El Segundo.
We also appreciate the City's ongoing efforts to refer us to potential clients and tenants and to promote our center through its own communication channels."

President, 365 Main Inc.
